Dr. Sam

DVM

Senior Veterinarian and practice owner Dr. Sam is a 2003 Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine graduate. He started his career with an interest in pharmacology, fascinated by the effects of medications from antibiotics to ace inhibitors and how they affect an animal's physiology. He founded the Animal Wellness Center of White Cloud in 2007 to care for cats and dogs. In practice, he focuses on general medicine and surgery with a special interest in dentistry.In his free time, he enjoys most outdoor sports such as hunting, fishing, scuba diving, jet-skiing, off-road driving, and visiting Silver Lake Sand Dunes.

Dr Paul

DVM

Dr Paul is a 1981 graduate of Purdue University. He and his Wife moved to the Ludington area 43 years ago and have never regretted their choice. He enjoys a variety of surgical challenges including Orthopedics and soft tissue cases. He was a practice owner for 38 years, then sold his practice and continues to work part time. When he is not treating his patients he enjoys Fly Fishing, Pickelball and motorcycling. He currently has one dog and one cat both of whom are spoiled rotten

Roxanne

CVA

Roxanne is a Florida native that just recently relocated to Michigan. She is the youngest member of our Team. She graduated high school in May of 2024 and is a Certified Veterinary Assistant. In high school she was a member of FFA, Rotary and many volunteer organizations. She loves the beach, cows and Ice cream. In her free time she enjoys driving around exploring the area. Her goal and dream for the future is to become a Veterinarian.

Kalie

CVA

Kalie is a Newaygo county native. She graduated from Ross Medical in Portage as a Veterinarian Assistant. She is looking forward to furthering her education in the future. In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog Tucker, and cooking new food.

Penny

Assistant

Penny is a Traverse City native that retired from the post office and started a second career at Animal Wellness Center in 2015. In her spare time she enjoys “Wine Weekends” with her friends, reading, fostering dogs, and volunteering (especially with Veterans Organizations) She does a great job working with owners and their pets on behavioral issues. She enjoys helping them have a better understanding of their pets issues, which helps improve their relationship with their pets

Autumn

Assistant

Autumn has been in the Veterinary medicine field since she was 14. She graduated high school in 2015 and worked for a large animal vet and was involved in breeding dairy cows. She joined the Animal Wellness Team in 2020. In her spare time she loves spending time with her two boys, her blue heeler, and family. Her hobbies include hunting, riding horses and SxS riding. She is an active member in the community serving as President of the Newaygo County Tech Center FFA Alumni. It is her passion to help others with their pets and agriculture.

Taylor W

Assistant

Taylor W graduated from Baker College in 2019 and has been working on gaining field experience ever since. She started off in Emergency Med in northern Michigan where she fell in love with being able to learn about several topics of vetmed and the fast paced environment of emergency medicine. She moved south to be closer to her family and continued to learn about general practice medicine. Taylor lives with her “Amazing” husband and her German Shepard Piper (PiperAnne when she is being naughty) She loves the fall season and is a big Horror/Spooky fan. Taylor joined the Animal Wellness Team in 2020 and trys to provide the best care for our clients and their pets. She is an “Open book” and will chat about anything!

Alyssa

Assistant

Alyssa is a Newaygo County Local. She graduated from Newaygo High School in 2017 and went on to get her Bachelors Degree in Animal Science at MSU. After she graduated MSU in 2021 she moved to Wisconsin for a year to work in Phararmacutical Research. She returned ot Michigan and started working at Animal Wellness Center in 2022. In her free time Alyssa enjoys spending time with her furry friends. She also enjoys reading, playing video games and really enjoys the Theater.

Theresa

Assistant

Theresa was a DSP and Med Leader who joined our team in 2024 She is looking forward to watching all the new puppies and kittens grow and develop. She especially enjoys seeing small dogs that remind her of her dog Tess. When she is not busy with other things, Teresa enjoys reading, writing, and weekend trips to Lake Michigan. She especially likes watching Tess play with her best friend (an English Mastiff) and evening snuggling with Tess.

Michelle

Receptionist

Michelle is usually the first smiling face you will see when you visit Animal Wellness Center, To her, the most rewarding aspect of working with us in the veterinary medicine field is having the ability to help clients and their pets. After work, Michelle goes home to enjoy time with her two dogs, Georgi and Luci

Billie

Receptionist

Originally from McBain, Michigan, Billie is one of our receptionists. She just recently started working with us again. However, Billie previously worked with us for a handful of years. She believes the most rewarding part of working in veterinary medicine (besides the puppies, of course!) is learning from the different cases we see. Her family has one dog, a heeler named Gus, who loves chasing everything, four horses, and forty Angus cows. Gus loves food, so Billie's favorite items we sell in the Critter Corner store are the dog puzzles. They help him work out some energy, and he gets the reward of a yummy snack!

Taylor

Receptionist

A Newaygo County native, Taylor began working for us part time in high school. She rejoined the team in 2022, and she has recently gone back to school to work in Health Information Technology. Her favorite part of working in veterinary medicine is working with our clients and learning about animal behavior. She has two pets of her own; a ginger cat named Chaos and a mixed breed dog named Scout. In her free time, she enjoys playing video games, watching old Disney movies, and playing soccer with Scout

Nancy

Office Manager

Nancy has been in the Veterinarian Industry for over 20 years. She started at Animal Wellness Center in 2012 after moving back to Michigan from Texas. She enjoys spending time throwing a Frisbee for her dog Dufas, reading, working outside, and fishing
